LOADS OF EGGS

Well since i last updated this blog i have sold some discus because i have got 4 pairs now and when they are on eggs they get aggressive. I have bought a new 120ltr tank for breading and put it in the bedroom with a pair in it one snakeskin, and a blue diamond these fish have laid 4 times in the main tank. But today in the main tank 3rd 6th 07 i have eggs from a chequerboard pigeon blood female and a moonstone marlboro. Also in the same tank i have a red alenquer and a moonstone marlboro now laying hard to keep up now. Watch this space i am sure theres lots more to come. Regards. Colin

BRONZE CATFISH

Well today i noticed my small eheim filters were running slow again normally i would just clean the pipes but i thought i would do them properly. I took the filter to the kitchen took the lid of and to my suprise there was something wiggling about i took another look it was a baby bronze catfish that must have got sucked up the filter as an egg. I took it to the tank and put it in then returned to the filter when i took the first tray out i found another 2 little cats. It was only about 4 weeks ago that i took the sponge pre filters of so they can only be a month old or less. They lived in there with no light but they had plenty of food. Just goes to show anything is possible. No pictures yet but i will take some first chance i get watch this space.

MORE NEW FISH

Well since i last updated this blog i went to atlatis in gt yarmouth and bought 4 new discus 2 moonstone marlboro and 2 chequerboard pidgeons. All looked fine in the shop but when i got them home after a few hours i noticed they had a white edge to the tail's and fin's So i treated them for 7 days with melafix. After this time it had all cleared up. After asking a few people about this it turned out it is caused buy stress. So now they all look good i will post some pictures. Also i now know my snake skin is a female she has paired with a blue diamond. I now know i have at least 4 pairs between the 2 tanks as i get at least 2 lots of eggs every week from each tank they have'nt come to anything yet as all the fish are juvenile. I have also moved the water butt into the spair bedroom for those people who have been reading this blog i ran a pipe under the bath into the bedroom and added a auto shut off valve so i don't have to worry about it overflowing anymore. MEDICATION

Today is day 10 of medacation for my discus one of them was going black and letting the others peck his side. I was told this was parasites so i have been treating with sterazin course finishes today the effected fish seems better now he/she is eating better aswell also have been treating for worms just incase. Now going to do 50% water change. Well did water change and found the nitrate is still 40ppm so doing another one tomorrow. I think i might put 6 of the smaller fish in the other tank tomorrow as it is now stable PH6.9 KH4 GH7 All looking good.

THIS IS THE TWO TANKS BOTH JUWEL RIO 400'S

OK this is the two tanks side by side. They are both identical they both have eheim 2327 wet & dry filter's + eheim 2222 externals. They both have plenty of bog wood and the water is identical in each hoping to put discus in the other tank next weekend if all goes well and the PH stays stable. I use an R/O for my water plus some treated tap water & trace elements.
